If we can be of help in any way, just get in touch. Also, to find out what's happening each month, pick up a copy of the newsletter Together, generally found in the church. Call in and look around, or spend a few quiet moments here; there is a peace in this place which bears witness to the years of prayer. Mungrisdale Swaledale Sheep ShowEach year, on the 3rd Wednesday in May, the Annual Mungrisdale Swaledale Sheep Show is held in a small field in front of Bannerdale View (Opposite the red Telephone Box near the bridge to The Mill Inn). ![]() Being the first Show of the season and with prizes and prize money totaling in excess of £1,000, it attracts farmers with their Swaledale sheep and lambs from a wide area of Cumbria, stretching from Appleby in the East, beyond Keswick in the West, and down to Kendal in the South of the County. The first seven Classes in the Show are for "local" exhibitors who live within a 12 mile radius of Mungrisdale and the remaining 18 Classes are open to everyone. This is not an event with "added visitor attractions" (apart from tea, coffee, sandwiches and excellent home-made cakes) but if you would like to see a traditional local sheep show in a wonderful Lakeland setting and perhaps "have a crack" with one or two exhibitors to learn a bit more about this hardy breed (that's the farmers as well as the Swaledales) you will be very welcome. Needless to say, admission is free! Any queries please contact the Show Secretary, Jo Edwards on 017684 82434 or by email on johanna.edwards@btopenworld.com (Back to Top)Mungrisdale Women’s Institute
