St Kentigern's, Mungrisdale  December  2019 – January 2020


A CAROL SERVICE will be held in the church on Sunday 15th December at 7pm.

Please come and join in – the church will be decked and lit with candles - a beautiful start to the Christmas season. 


DECORATING THE CHURCH   Please come and help on Saturday 14th December  at 10am if you enjoy this side of Christmas preparations.  Come even if you don’t generally attend church - it’s a lovely thing to do together.


PRAYER TIME on Tuesday mornings in the church, 9am-10.30am.  All welcome to drop in.


BIBLE STUDY:   The final one for 2019 will be on Tuesday  10th December at 7.30pm in St Mungo’s.  All welcome.   We will start again in the New Year on 7th January and continue fortnightly.  Contact Nancy on 016974 78604.


SCOTTISH REELING  in the Village Hall at 7.30pm continues fortnightly on Tuesdays,  3rd and 17th December.  Run by Melanie and Robin Davies from Langwathby, it will start again in the New Year at 7.30pm on Tuesday 14th January and fortnightly thereafter.  Anyone interested, please contact Sally Bohling 01768779602


Come and join together to sing your favourite Christmas Carols in a village carol singing evening led by Richard Hall with organ accompaniment by Frances Faux.
Prompt start at 7.30 p.m.  Collection for charity.


WALK ‘N TALK   There will be no walk in December but we’ll re-start in the New Year on Friday 17th January at 10am - weather permitting; check with Denise or Nancy via 07866965388 or


YOGA at the village hall starting 15th January and every Wednesday, 7.00 - 8.30 pm. Pay on the night £10.00. All welcome, no previous experience of yoga necessary. Contact Anne Edwards 01798 484 610.


WI    On Wednesday 4th December, we ‘ll be going out for afternoon tea at the Borrowdale Hotel instead of our usual Christmas party.  Details from Lorraine 017687 79877, or Judith 017687 79957.

The surgery will be closed 25th and 26th December and 1st January.  It will also be closed for training on the afternoon of Thursday 16th January from 1pm.

Deliveries of prescriptions will be one day early  - on the 23rd and 24th December.

January 10th  Woman at War  2018  Cert 12A   1h41m    An Icelandic woman leading a double life as an environmental activist fighting against the local aluminium industry in a thrilling and life affirming contemporary fable.
