Mungrisdale Recreation Room

November 1924 to 8th March 2004
The Village Hall, as it is more widely known, is about to enter a new era. The current building was originally situated at the Carrock tungsten mine as the miners recreation room and was moved to its present position in 1924.
The
overall fabric of the building has deteriorated in recent years and the hall
lacks the modern amenities required by to-days standards. A decision was taken
therefore to raise funds for a new
hall. In March 2003 we were very pleased to receive a major Community Fund
grant which provided the
impetus to move forward. After further fund raising efforts and grants from Eden
District Council and Defra, we are pleased to announce that the start date for the construction will be 8th
March 2004.
The Hall is a very important part of village life and the new building will provide a focus for very many activities for both young and old in the community for many years to come.
