Mungrisdale Parish Council

Minutes of the meeting of the Parish Council at Mungrisdale Village Hall on             

    Tuesday 18th October 2005 at 7-30pm

DRAFT UNTIL AGREED BY COUNCIL

Chairman welcomed councillors, and 29 parishioners and visitors and Roy Fisher, Eden District Council.  Present were Lesley Smith; Dorothy Chalk; Michael Bohling; Robert Jackson; Ernie Teasdale; Les Wilson; Ronnie Wilson

1.       Apologies received from Alan Tiffin and  Ernie Bird

2.      Public Participation

The chairman adjourned the meeting to allow members of the public an opportunity to ask questions or raise issues regarding the item on the Agenda.  The following points were raised.

·         Visual Impact of 102 m high turbines the highest in Cumbria

·         There are plans for more turbines at Skelton

·         The impact will include construction, noise and loss of tranquillity

·         Need to think of future generations and the impact on the landscape for our children

·         Turbines need 100% backup as they are unreliable

·         Focus on wind is taking away interest from any alternative means and the way that power is currently used.

·         Parishioners present were all opposed to the application

3.      Declaration of Interest

Members are invited to declare any personal interests and any personal interests, which are prejudicial, relating to the item on the agenda and none were declared

4.      Planning Application

·         05/0758  Erection of five wind turbines for generation of electricity, control building, anemometer mast

·         The clerk read the entry in the minute book from the meeting on 19 May 2003 when the application for the test mast was presented to the council.  At that time the clerk was instructed to write to Eden District Council to oppose the erection of the monitoring mast and the turbines

·         The councillors agreed unanimously that the application received reference 05/0758 should not be supported and the clerk should write to the Planning Department at EDC to object on the basis of noise, visual impact

The meeting was closed and everyone present reminded that the next Parish Council Meeting would be on 7th  November 2005 in Mungrisdale Village Hall
