Mungrisdale Woman's Institute May Event
Saturday 30th April & Sunday 1st May
This two day event, over the May day weekend ,organised by Mungrisdale W.I. was as usual a great success. Mungrisdale W.I. this year is celebrating 75 years, so in our usual style one of our members made a huge cake, and another member decorated it beautifully. The cake was officially cut by the two presidents, Eleanor Earl, and Lesley Smith and the county president, Eileen Wilson. The people of the valley came up trumps again with an eclectic mix of talents, and hobbies. We had lots of paintings and pen and ink drawings, knitted and woven items, jewellery, crewell work, sugar craft, and stamp collections. There was a display of old tools ,a recently made coracle, painting on silk, wood craft items, and several flower and garden arrangements. Mungrisdale Writers group launched their latest book and Irvine Hunt had a small display of his writings.
There was the usual W.I. produce stall and of course, the home made refreshments served over the two days. There was a great deal of interest in the video of the building of the new village hall. Around £1000 was raised over the two days and this money has been shared between the W.I., Eden Carers, and Hospice at Home.
